SLOVENIA

I have yet to complete my Slovenian Travel Guides, but please reach out to me directly if you have any questions or need tips!

  • Updated COVID-19 Travel Information:

  • Currency:

    • The official currency of Slovenia is the Euro (EUR) (€)

      • $1 USD = €0.95

  • Pricing for Leisure Travelers:

    • Average Hotel Expenses = €90-€105/Night ($90-$105 USD/Night)

    • Average Food/Drink Expenses = €30-€40/Day ($30-$40 USD/Day)

  • Pricing for Backpackers:

    • Average Hostel Expenses = €20-€30/Night ($20-$30 USD/Night)

    • Average Food/Drink Expenses = €20-€30/Day ($20-$30 USD/Day)

  • Communication:

    • The official language of Slovenia is Slovenian. Most people in tourism will have a good handle on English.

  • Transportation:

    • Airplane: Air travel is not very common within Slovenia. Getting here from the US will require at least one, potentially two, connections.

    • Bus: Undoubtedly the most popular way to get around Slovenia. Buses are cheap and easy to find. My go-to website for this is Bookaway.

    • Taxi/Uber: Taxi are cheap and not too difficult to find. Make sure cabbies run their meter (if they have one). If not, be sure to agree on a price beforehand.

    • Rental Car: I highly recommend renting a car and driving around this country! The landscapes are stunning and many of the best places to see are not reachable via public transportation.

  • Miscellaneous:

    • Slovenia is one of my favorite European countries! The food, people, and natural beauty are world-class. Truly a hidden gem!
